NASA Spaceward Bound India 2016 is being coordinated and managed by researchers from Mars Society Australia , UNSW Canberra, Australia, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany (BSIP), and Blue Marble Space Institute of Science (BMSIS). BSIP is the host coordinator for SB India Program and is helping with the logistics of the expedition.
Project Coordinator: Mr. Siddharth Pandey
Siddharth is a Space Systems Engineer, currently pursuing a PhD at University of New South Wales, Canberra Australia. As an early career researcher and space science promoter, he is playing the bridge or the catalyst between several research groups involved in the experiment and expedition planning towards NASA Spaceward Bound India and along with other Blue Marble Space Institute of Science (BMSIS) members is instrumental in bringing this project to India.
Science Coordinator: Dr. Jonathan Clarke
As a veteran of 4 previous NASA Spaceward Bound Expeditions, a distinguished career at Geoscience Australia, Australian Centre of Astrobiology and as the President of Mars Society Australia, Dr. Clarke shall be coordinating the various scientific experiments planned for this expedition.
Logistics Coordinator: Dr. Mukund Sharma
Dr. Sharma and his team at Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany (Lucknow, India) has relevant scientific field experience in Ladakh region, he shall be in charge of the logistics and resource management and clearance/permit arrangements, apart from leading one of the science groups on the expedition.
Dr. Parag is a scientist in the Biotechnology and Planetary Protection Group at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology (Caltech), in Pasadena, California. He is the Research Scientist at Blue Marble Space Institute of Science. Dr Parag will be helping in logistics and resource management.
Dr. Preeti is a Research Scientist at Blue Marble Space Institute of Science. She is also one of the core team members of Astrobiology India initiative. Dr. Preeti will be helping in logistics and resource management.
Dr. Rakesh Mogul Assistant Professor, California State Polytechnical University, Pomona. Dr Mogul runs the NASA Spaceward Bound Mohave Program, USA. Dr. Mogul will be helping in logistics and resource management.
Promotions Coordinator: Ms. Anushree Srivastava
Anushree is an early career researcher and a Postgraduate candidate at the University of Essex, UK. She is one of the core team members of Astrobiology India – an initiative of Blue Marble Space. She is helping coordinate Spaceward Bound India and plan out promotional activities for the project.
